HIRAM TAU

COMPOSER, PRODUCER & ARTIST

A master of the five-minute epic, weaving ambience, angst and density into his seductive musical structures, Hiram Tau brings the richness of mythopoetic storytelling to his post-genre works, creating arcane atmospheres which are mysterious, compelling, and emotionally vital. His influences are many, although his music is frequently described as a peculiar merging of early John Foxx, 80s Clannad, 90s Bowie, and Daft Punk, with elements of neo-folk, power ballad, gothic rock, neo-classical, sophisti-pop, post-punk, electroclash, EDM, early indie, and ethereal Coldwave.

A musical graduate of SOAS, having previously studied composition at Goldsmiths and worked with the English National Opera for six years in his youth under the tuition of Janice Kelly and Willard White, Hiram Tau combines classical precision with his own Afro-Celtic roots, composing in both Welsh and English. He has previously worked under the pseudonyms Oceanus, Eros Ranredd, Steel Ghost and Tubal Cain. He was co-founder of The Juju Babies, the London-based electroclash sensation of the noughties. He also works with various musicians under the name Caer.

Hiram Tau recently contributed his epic version of Welsh classic 'Hiraeth' to
#HIRAETHLIVE, a charity campaign in association with Penderyn Whiskey, raising funds for the Welsh charities Hafal and Llamau. Many Welsh artists contributed to the campaign, including Bonnie Tyler, Sir Bryn Terfel, Carys Eleri, Roy Noble and Aaron Ramsey.

'Wales is my heartland,' Says Hiram, 'For me, it's Yr Wlad fy Mamau: the land of my mothers.'

Hiram Tau has worked as a producer and arranger for other artists, but is now concentrating on mixing, mastering and releasing his extensive collection of solo recordings.

Hiram Tau divides his time between London and South Wales.

CYFNOS

BY HIRAM TAU

CYFNOS is the upcoming mini-album by Hiram Tau.

An assembly of seven powerful songs, in both Welsh and English, evoking the mystery and pathos of HT's cultural roots. The title cyfnos means twilight, the time between sunset and nightfall when all is both luminous and obscure.

Hiram Tau weaves elements of traditional Welsh folklore with ethereal darkwave and anthemic rock; lyrics are intimate, autobiographical, and full of hiraeth - a deep and indefinable yearning for what once was, or what can never be.

The song 'HIRAETH' - used in the charity campaign #HiraethLive - is featured on this mini-album.
